Get to Know Dr. Yaritza Vazquez
Dr. Yaritza Vazquez started her dental career concentrating on treating special needs and medically compromised patients. She later moved her focus towards periodontics, and she’s been loving what she does ever since. Other than being able to work with her hands and perform complex treatments, she also enjoys getting to know her patients and having a significant impact on people’s lives and smiles.
Where Did You Study Dentistry and Periodontics?
Dr. Vazquez completed a certificate in Advanced Graduate Studies in General Practice Residency at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in 2006. She completed her residency in Periodontics at Boston University in June 2009 and earned a Master’s Degree in Oral Biology focused on inflammatory processes. During her periodontology residency, she expanded her techniques in periodontal procedures, including implant placements and cosmetic surgeries.
Today, she is an active member of several prestigious organizations, such as the American Academy of Periodontology, the American Dental Association, and the Texas Dental Association. In 2010, she was named a diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology.
Outside of the Dental Office, What Do You Like to Do?
Away from the office, Dr. Vazquez loves spending time with her family, including her husband, Dr. Jan Ortiz, and their children, Zoe and Noah. She also enjoys traveling and learning about various cultures.
